When applying for a French academic program, the first step is to identify the program and the academic institution that correspond to your study plan. Contact the local CampusFrance Representative and discuss your possible options.

Once you identified the program, you need to start the application process.

French universities have no standard procedures to recognize international academic qualifications; each university defines its own requirements. It means that, for the same diploma, two universities can enroll you at different levels of studies. It is strongly recommended to apply to three universities/schools.

The CampusFrance Representative will inform you about the full details of the application procedures, will assist you with the preparation of your application file(s), will submit it (them) to the French university/school, and will ensure the follow up until you receive the letter of admission.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate level

To apply for admission into a French academic program at the undergraduate level you need the following:

- Proof of your academic background – transcripts and list of courses completed (originals and certified translations in French). The French university will evaluate the courses completed in the Philippines towards equivalent courses of the French program you apply for. This evaluation will determine whether or not you are likely to succeed.

- The GPA and the number of credits completed are NOT required. The evaluation of your application is not based on marks.

!! A sound piece of advice !!
If you want to transfer credits back, obtain a Letter of Permission (LOP) from the academic advisor of your faculty/department before leaving for France. If there is an existing MOA between your school and the school in France, the MOA should state the transfer of credits necessary. You can verify this with your university.

Graduate level

- The application requirements are the same as above.

- The Letter of Permission (LOP) is recommended, provided that you intend to do coursework and transfer credits to your university.

- The Letter of Permission (LOP) is not required if you are doing research or a special project. Consult the director of your MA or PhD thesis, as well as the EduFrance Representative of your local office to identify and enroll into the French university or research institute specialized in your study area.

WORTH KNOWING: Application requirements for specialized schools such as: Design, Fashion, Architecture, Visual Arts, Dance, Music, Journalism, are defined by each French school.
They may include:
- a portfolio showing student’s skills and talent in a particular field
- an interview conducted by the school’s selection committee
- a language test, if needed.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

- October for programs starting in January
- January to April for programs starting in September
- Flexible deadlines for admission into language courses, depending on your study plan and the starting date you apply for.

NOTIFICATION OF ADMISSION

A selection committee of the French university/school approves your admission into the program you applied for and notifies the CampusFrance local office or directly the student. The notification period varies between June and September. Most selection committees take their decisions by the end of June. You receive a letter of admission that will allow you to apply for the student visa to the French Embassy/Consulate near to your place of residence.

!! A sound piece of advice !!
If you intend to register for two consecutive programs (a French language course followed by an academic program), obtain the letters of admission for both programs before applying for visa. French visas can not be extended in France; you should obtain a student visa for the entire period of your study before leaving the Philippines.

SPECIAL APPLICATION PROCEDURES

The programs that require special admission procedures are: Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Paramedical courses, Accounting, Agronomy, Agri-Food Science, Veterinary Science and non-university higher education courses in Music, Dance and Art. Contact your local EduFrance Representative for details.
